HOURS: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday - 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm & Thursday - 12:30 pm - 4:00 pm.

SPORTS

Superstars Club

Superstars program is for 5 -7-year-old children to learn the basic rules and skills of four different sports activities. Superstars Club emphasizes on participation, teamwork and sportsmanship. Participants must turn 5 by June 10, 2020. The fee includes a Club T-shirt and registration for all eight weeks of sports and fun. The program will start on June 8, 2020 through July 31, 2020. Sessions will be 1 hour long. Sports included are: Kickball, Baseball, Soccer, and Basketball. Registration starts April 6, 2020 and will end June 22, 2020 or until full. Parents meeting Thursday, June 4th at 6:00pm at Almansor Park.

2:30pm to 3:30pm M/W/F Granada Park $30/8wks

Youth Basketball - $30 (3rd-8th grade)

Learn the basics of speed, agility, strategy and sportsmanship. Practice takes place at the After-School Playground Sites during the After-School Program time. Games are played at Almansor Park. The program concludes with All City Playoffs and Championships.

Cheerleading - $30 (3rd-8th grade)

Provides basic cheerleading skills, including rhythm, choreography, showmanship, team cooperation, novice stunting and cheers. Practice is held weekdays at an After-School site. Participants cheer at City of Alhambra Flag Football games held at Almansor Park. Cheerleading clinics are held on Thursdays at Almansor Park. Concludes with the All-City Cheerleading Championships. 

Drill Team - $30 (3rd-8th grade)

Provides drill team skills, including performing drills to music, marching, commands, choreography, showmanship, and team cooperation. Drill Team clinics are held on Thursdays at Almansor Park. Concludes with the All-City Drill Team Championships. 

Flag Football - $30

The City of Alhambra’s flag football program will emphasize on teamwork an sportsmanship. Players from all 9 elementary schools will learn football techniques such as passing and blocking. Practices will take place at the school sites weekdays after school and will begin mid-August. Registration will begin August 3, 2020. The season starts Thursday, September 24, 2020. Parents meeting will be held at Almansor Park Activity room on September 17, 2020 at 6:00pm.

Volunteer  Opportunities Available

The Community Services Department is seeking volunteer coaches to assist with the youth sports, cheerleading and the drill team programs. Individuals interested in becoming a volunteer coach or an assistant coach must submit a Volunteer Application Form during the registration period of the sport activity they are interested in coaching. A volunteer application can be obtain at the Recreation Division office - 800 South Almansor Street or online by downloading the Volunteer Application.
