ELECTION CALENDAR - BALLOT MEASURES

2020

August 7                    Last day to withdraw Initiative Petition

August 13                     Last day for City Attorney to transmit Impartial Analysis to City Clerk

August 13                     Last day to submit Arguments “FOR” or “AGAINST”any City measure to the City Clerk.

                                          Arguments may not exceed 300 words in length.

August 14                  Scheduled date for the County to notify the City Clerk of letter assigned to ballot measure(s)

August 15 to 24         Public Examination Period for ballot measure materials

August 24                    Last day for authors of arguments “FOR” and “AGAINST” any City measure to submit

                                          Rebuttals to the City Clerk. A rebuttal may not exceed 250 words.

August 25 to

September 3              Public Examination Period for Rebuttals

September 3 to 9     Period for County elections official to deliver copies of official ballot proofs to City Clerk for approval

September 24           Last day to file Campaign Expenditure Statements (1st Report)

September 24 to

October 13                Mailing of Official Sample Ballot Booklets

October 5                  First day for mailing Vote by Mail Ballots

October 5 to 27        Voters may request Vote by Mail Ballots with Regular Applications

October 19                   Last day to Register to Vote

October 20 to

November 3              New Citizen Eligibility to Register and Vote

October 22                Last day to file Campaign Expenditure Statements (2nd Report)

October 28 to

November 3               Emergency Vote by Mail Voting Period

November 3                  ELECTION DAY

 November 6               Last Day for County Clerk to receive Vote by Mail Ballots if postmarked on Election Day

 December 3              Completion of the Official Canvass by County
