The City of Alhambra is proud to participate in the 2024 Rose Parade, with this year’s float design inspired by Ramona Elementary School student Shannon Tan. Her design was selected through a student art contest, which was open to Alhambra Elementary School students.
The City of Alhambra and the Alhambra Chamber of Commerce launched the annual art contest asking students to help inspire the design for the City’s 2024 Tournament of Roses Parade Float. The theme is, “Celebrating a World of Music, the Universal Language,” which commemorates how music unites people of all different backgrounds and cultures. Shannon Tan’s entry, “Dragon Music,” highlights creativity and diversity, while also relating to the 2024 Tournament of Roses theme. The float will feature a giant dragon with a globe in its claw with surrounding music notes and instruments, along with the classic City of Alhambra sign.
“The City of Alhambra looks forward to participating in the Rose Parade every year,” said Mayor Ross J. Maza. “This year will be extra special as our float is inspired by one of our very own Alhambra school student’s art work.”
The Alhambra City Councilmembers along with Shannon will ride on the float down Colorado Boulevard in the City of Pasadena on New Year’s Day morning!
