Senior Activities

The Joslyn Adult Center is a very active place to come and participate in fun activities and make new friends. There are weekly movies on Fridays, interesting seminars, senior outings, spa days, special events, and dances. Everyone is welcome to come and be a part of the Joslyn Adult Center.

‍Senior Lunch Program - Hot Meals Served (Mon-Fri)

In collaboration with YWCA San Gabriel Valley Senior Cafe, the Joslyn Center provides nutritious hot meals Monday-Friday at 11:00 am. Participants must register with the YWCA for the program to participate in the lunch program. This program is currently first come, first serve, and Sign-ins start at 10:30 am each day to get a meal ticket. A suggested donation of $3 is welcome but not necessary. Anyone under the age of 60 can purchase a lunch for $5. Special event celebrations and luncheons are often held in conjunction with the lunch program. 

Home-Delivered Meals Program

Home-delivered meals are provided at no cost to home-bound seniors age 60 and older. Alhambra seniors can sign up for the program directly with YWCA San Gabriel Valley Senior Cafe by calling 626-214-9465. Identify yourself as a City of Alhambra resident (all information is strictly confidential). A $3 voluntary donations are welcome, but there is no obligation to donate.

Free Legal Advice

Elder Law Attorney Carlos Arcos provides a free 15-minute legal consultation on legal matters such as wills, trusts, probate, and other estate planning issues. Appointments are required (call 626-570-5056) to schedule an appointment.

Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy (HICAP) Program

The HICAP program provides seniors with accurate, timely, and objective information on the complicated and often confusing current health situation. HICAP offers trained/registered/certified counselors to provide seniors with an understanding of their individual Medicare benefits and to counsel them on their specific needs. Areas covered include:

  • Medicare Part-D
  • Medicare Advantage (MA) Health Plans
  • Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Insurance
  • Dual Eligibility; Medicare Savings Program
  • Long Term Care

Appointments must be made to meet with a HICAP representative by calling Alhambra Senior Services at 626-570-5056.

Volunteer Program

Senior volunteers are needed to assist and provide a myriad of services that the Joslyn Adult Center offers. Volunteers help with, but are not limited to, the Congregate Lunch Program, Telephone Reassurance Program, and Special Events. Both Morning and afternoon positions are available to all interested parties. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.

Safe Return Program

The Joslyn Adult Center provides registration materials for this nationwide program. If an individual with Alzheimer's or related dementia wanders and becomes lost, caregivers can call the 24-hour emergency response line at 888-572-8566. Call the Center or stop by to pick up a registration packet.
