The Alhambra City Council is elected by Alhambra citizens to guide the policy affairs of the community, and are elected at large for a four-year term from five geographic districts. Municipal elections are held in November every two (even-numbered) years, under a rotational system adopted in 1984. Each Council Member serves as mayor for a nine-month period. The City Council appoints the City Manager, City Attorney and City Commission Members.
There is generally a short recess, followed by the continuation of the meeting at 7 pm. Persons and groups interested in addressing the City Council on a scheduled agenda item must complete a Speaker's Card located on the table just outside the Council Chambers. Please identify your name and address on the card, and the item you would like to address.
