BOARDS & COMMISSIONS
Current Term of Service: March 28, 2016 – March 27, 2017
 
Appointment of members of these Citizen Boards and Commission is one of the important responsibilities of your Council. Tenure of service is limited to one (1) year with the provision that an individual may be reappointed annually up to a maximum of eight (8) years of consecutive service, excepting Youth Commission service, which is limited to a maximum of four (4) consecutive years. All Boards and Committees are non-compensatory.

If you are interested in serving on a City Board, Committee, or Commission, please fill out the Service Application Form. Every Application will be given careful consideration. However, there is no guarantee that all who apply will be appointed. Additionally, each application will be kept on file for a minimum of two (2) years or until the applicant is appointed, whichever occurs first. Once an applicant is appointed, his or her application becomes a permanent City Record.

ARTS AND CULTURAL EVENTS COMMITTEE
Consists of 5 members. Duties: Prepares an annual plan for the "Art in Public Places" program; recommends to the City Council the purchase of art work to be displayed on public property, support for the performing arts, and the purchase and improvement of real property to be used for the display of art work. 
Regularly meets the third Wednesday of the month, City Hall Conference Room A, 7 p.m.

CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION & BOARD OF APPEALS
Consists of 5 members. Duties: Conducts hearings and renders decisions on all quasi-judicial and other general matters assigned to it; functions as the City's Civil Service Commission. 
Meets as needed.

DESIGN REVIEW BOARD
Consists of 5 members. Duties: Has design control over all commercial, industrial and residential planned development
permits reviewed by the Planning Commission; reviews uniform sign plans for all multi-tenant buildings. Acts as a consulting board to the City Council with respect to design control and signage matters.
Meets second & fourth Tuesday each month in City Hall Conference Room A, 7:30 p.m.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITTEE
Consists of 5 members. Duties: Participates in an advisory role to develop City initiatives related to energy and resources
conservation, protecting the environment and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and saving energy-related costs to the City.
Meets the second Thursday of January, March, May, July, September & November, or as designated.

HCDA CITIZEN ADVISORY COMMITTEE (HCDA)
Consists of 10 members. Duties: Participates in an advisory role in planning, implementing and assessing the City's community development program.
Meets first Tuesday of the month, City Hall Conference Room A, 7:00 p.m.

BOARD OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES
Consists of 5 members. Manages the City's public library system pursuant to the provisions of general law and the Alhambra City Charter.
Meets second Tuesday of the month in the Library Director's Office-Main Branch at 6 p.m.

PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION
Consists of 10 members. Duties: Acts as a consulting/advisory board to the City Council; makes recommendations in an advisory capacity on matters pertaining to recreation, and such subjects related to the orderly and consistent development of parks and recreation.

PLANNING COMMISSION

Meets the first and third Monday of each month at City Hall, 7:00 p.m.

SUCCESSOR AGENCY OVERSIGHT BOARD TO THE ALHAMBRA REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY
Consists of 7 members. Duties: Charged with the authority to pay enforceable obligations and administer the dissolution and wind-down of the former Redevelopment Agency.

Meets on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 2 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.
