The City of Alhambra Community Services Department offers a wide variety of leisure service
programs and activities to suit a variety of interests, ages, cultures and abilities.

Golf Course

Unique course of uncommon design features a regulation par of 70 and shorter length of 5,212 yards.
Golf instruction available for adults, ladies, seniors and juniors. Private instruction available.
Award-winning golf shop.
 

    GET GOLF READY PROGRAM:

  • The Alhambra Golf Course is an affiliated member of the Get Golf Ready Program. PGA and LPGA Professionals will teach you everything you need to play golf in just a few lessons in a casual, friendly setting for just $99 per session.
  • For more information, visit www.playgolfamerica.com. Click on the list of golf facilities that offer this program and type in Alhambra Golf Course. You'll be able to register for upcoming sessions online. 

    PROGRAMS FOR JUNIORS:

  • All juniors under the age of 17 play golf at Alhambra Golf Course for $1.
  • Juniors may also receive 50% off buckets of driving range balls before 4 p.m.,
    7 days a week.
  • Year-Around Golf Classes
  • Junior Golf League plays every Saturday afternoon.
  • Affiliated programs: (1) Southern California Golf Association (SCGA), which offers "Youth on Course" member discounts at the Alhambra Golf Course (Thursday-Sunday before 4 p.m. - bucket of range balls is just $2). For more information, visit www.scga.org.  (2) The First Tee Program of Pasadena offers Juniors 8-week sessions at a cost of $85. The Alhambra After-School Playground program enables participants to take part in team & individual
sports, and alternative activities (arts & crafts, table game tournaments, four square, kickball, and
other games). Participants can come and go without restriction. In case of rain, sites may be closed.

Badminton

Free "open play" badminton, for persons of all ages, is offered at the Almansor Park Gym. Players must

Youth Basketball League

Students, in grades 3-8, learn the basics of speed, agility, strategy and sportsmanship. Practice takes place at the After-School Playground Sites during the After-School Program time. Games are played at Almansor Park. See the Alhambra Leisure Activities Guide for more information.

Teen Basketball League

Teen league play for grades 9-12, begins in March on Friday evenings. Fee includes officiating, and individual/team awards will be presented for 1st and 2nd place finishers. See the Alhambra Leisure Activities Guide for more information.

Adult Basketball League

Teams include those with no height limit and one with a 6'2" under height limit. All games are played at the Almansor Park Gymnasium. Individual and team awards are presented for 1st and 2nd place finishers. See the Alhambra Leisure Activities Guide for more information.

Cheerleading

For participants, in grades 3-8, provides basic cheerleading skills, including rhythm, choreography, showmanship, team cooperation and cheers. Practice is held weekdays at an After-School site. Participants cheer at City of Alhambra Flag Football games held at Almansor Park. Cheerleading clinics are also held. See the Alhambra Leisure Activities Guide for more information.

Dance

Various classes for age groups. Classes include ballet, tap, Folklorico, Flamenco, Line Dance,
Hawaiian / Polynesian / Tahitian / Hula, Middle Eastern, as well as jazz and hip hop movements.

Teaches students the basics of participating on a drill team, including performing drills to music, choreography, showmanship, and team cooperation. Concludes with the All-City Drill Team Championships. See the Alhambra Leisure Activities Guide for more information.

Flag Football

Teaches speed, agility, strategy, teamwork, sportsmanship and participation. Practice takes place at the After-School Playground Site, weekdays during the regular After-School Program time. Free play activities at the Almansor Park Gym include Adult Volleyball Leagues, Adult Basketball Leagues, Table Tennis, Open Play Badminton, Open Play Volleyball and Open Play Teen Basketball. Activities at the Granada Park Gym include Table Tennis. The schedule at the gym may change due to facility rentals and special events. Youth Gymnastics

Teaches muscle development, coordination and overall motor skills, as well as discipline, skill, concentration, imagination and self-confidence. Increases strength through proper body balance, coordination and flexibility. Classes available for ages as young as 3 years old through a special collaboration between the City of Alhambra and Payke Gymnastics Academy. Classes in stretching and toning, rope jumping, as well as learning yoga and Tai Chi, which improves inner strength and balance, releases tension and improves circulation. See the Alhambra Leisure Activities Guide for more information.

Horseshoes

Lighted horseshoe pits are located adjacent to the gym at Almansor Park for participants of all ages.
There is no fee for this open-play activity, however, you must provide your own horseshoes. See the

Lawn Bowling

The Alhambra Lawn Bowling Club plays on Mondays and Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and Saturdays at 9 a.m. The greens are located adjacent to the gym at Almansor Park. AYSO VIP Soccer Program For children and young adults whose physical or mental disabilities make it difficult to successfully participate on mainstream teams.
