On Monday, October 24, 2016 at 9:08 a.m., Alhambra Police Department’s Dispatch Center was advised of a traffic collision at Main Street and Third Street. The collision involved a pedestrian and an Orange Ford Cargo Van. The pedestrian was proceeding northbound on Third Street, crossing Main Street inside the marked crosswalk, when the collision occurred. The vehicle, which was occupied by an adult male driver, was making a left turn to proceed eastbound on Main Street.
The pedestrian, has been identified as 69-year-old Tien Anh Chung of Alhambra, sustained life-threatening injuries during the collision. She was transported to a trauma center by Alhambra Fire Department personnel, but succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at 10:53 a.m.
The driver of the Ford Van has been identified as 38-year-old Astorga Noe of Bellflower who remained on scene and was cooperative with investigators. The driver of the vehicle did not require medical attention. Although the investigation is still open and ongoing, it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
