2008 Water Awareness Poster Contest Winners Honored by City Council

“Water Awareness” is both a campaign, to promote public interest in water and the role water agencies play in conservation, management, water supply, water quality, and distribution, and a state of mind that water officials and political leaders are working to instill in each citizen.

It is particularly important for residents of this Southern California desert climate to become water aware, and to actively participate in the conservation of water, our most essential element.

The City of Alhambra Utilities Department has actively waged this Water Awareness campaign for years, and they have enlisted a key segment of our population to  proclaim the Water Awareness message to the public – elementary school children, K-8.

For the past 14 years the students have been asked to portray, through art, the message of Water Awareness, and the students have come through big time.  Those posters judged most effective in the 2008 Water Awareness campaign have been selected, and the artists have been honored with Certificates of Recognition, from the Alhambra City Council, and have received U.S. Savings Bonds (from $50 for Honorable Mention to $200 for the winning poster) for their successful efforts.
