about Utilities Services


How is utility or water and sewer service established?
Service is established in person at the Customer Service Counter. The following information is required when you open an account:

  • Service address/location
  • Your name
  • Whether you own or rent your residence
  • Driver's license or proper form of ID
  • Your home and work telephone numbers
  • Mailing address
  • Start date
  • Social Security Number

Is a deposit required?
Yes, a minimum deposit of $51 is required for single-family residences. Contact Utilities Department for information for other customer classifications.

If the water at your new address is off and a Utilities Department employee has to come out to turn it on, your presence may be required. There is no charge for this service if performed during regular weekday hours as part of the regular scheduled turn-on work. However, if this service must be performed on the same day or outside of the regular working hours there is a charge.

When is my bill late?
Bills are due upon receipt and must be paid within fifteen days from the statement date to avoid service charges and/or service interruption.

Can I get an extension on my past due bill?
In many cases the Department can work out payment arrangements for customers. Please call (626) 570-5061 during regular business hours to speak with a representative.

To find out if the Department has received your payment, call (626) 570-5061 during regular business hours.

Where can I pay my bill?
1. You can pay your bill at the Utilities Department Customer Service Center, 
     68 South First Street, Alhambra, CA 91801.
2. You can mail your payment to: City of Alhambra-Department of Utilities,
     Post Office Box 6304, Alhambra, CA 91802
3. A payment drop box located on the north wall side of the Customer Service Center 
     at 68 S. First St., Alhambra, CA.

What are your hours?
The Customer Service Center hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday; and 8:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Department is closed on holidays and weekends.
