  Alhambra Citizen Police Academy

Applications Now Being Accepted

Have you always wondered what it might be like to be a police officer? Well, here's your opportunity to find out.

There is no better way to learn about community policing, short of becoming a police officer. And for those of us who already have a job, the Citizen Police Academy is a great opportunity to expand our knowledge and deepen our appreciation for our community. The upcoming session is open to interested Alhambra residents and businesspersons and will include a special graduation ceremony.

The three-hour Wednesday evening classes, held over nine weeks, will include lectures, discussions, demonstrations, role-playing exercises, and, at a time to be arranged, a "ride-along" with an officer on a regular patrol shift. Topics to be covered by veteran Alhambra Police Officers and staff include the history of the Alhambra Police Department, constitutional, criminal and civil law, law enforcement ethics, crime scene investigation, community-oriented problem solving, and crime prevention.

To receive additional information about the Citizen Police Academy (or an application form), call the Alhambra Police Department Crime Prevention Office, at (626) 570-5177. Academy class sizes are limited, so submit your application form as soon as possible. The class will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
