Free hearing screenings are offered each month on the first Tuesday of the month from 9:30-11:00 a.m. Provided by First American Hearing Aid Center. Appointments are required. Free blood pressure screenings are held every Monday at 10 a.m.

JANUARY 2012 SENIOR ACTIVITIES

  • Tuesday, January 3 - Registration for February Senior Outings, including Downtown Riverside  (Feb. 9) and Cabazon Outlets & Morongo Casino on Feb. 24.
     
  • Wednesday, January 4 - January Birthday Luncheon Celebration - 11 a.m. January birthday celebrants in attendance will receive a token gift. Registration is required at least two days in advance by calling 626-458-4455, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
     
  • Wednesday, January 11 - VITAS Bereavement Support Group - 2:30 p.m. VITAS Innovative Hospice Care will present a six-week course on grief issues, on Wednesdays, beginning on January 11th. Pre-registration is required.

  • Tuesday, January 17 - Healthy Living - How to Improve your Quality of Life - 10 a.m. Presented by Dr. Paul Villanueva. Seminar will be held at the Joslyn Center and is

  • Thursday, January 19 - Trusts & Planning for Aging Parents - 10 a.m. This seminar is part of the Managing Elder Care, Trusts & Medi-Cal" series by Elder Law Attorney Carlos A. Arcos. Seminar will be held at the Joslyn Center and is free-of-charge, but registration is required. For more information, call 626-570-5056, during weekday business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
     
  • Wed. & Thur., Jan. 18 & 19 - AARP Driver Safety Program - (Taught in Mandarin) - 12:30 p.m.-4:30 p.m. This is a two-day defensive driving class. $12 for AARP members, $14 for non-members. Make check or money order payable to AARP - no cash!
     
  • Monday, January 23 - Chinese New Year Luncheon Celebration - 11 a.m. Start the Year of the Dragon by wearing red to help bring good fortune and happiness to the celebration.  Registration is required at least two days in advance by calling 626-458-4455, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
     
  • Tuesday, January 24 - Healthy Eating on a Budget - 10 a.m. Seminar will be presented by SCAN.  Seminar will be held at the Joslyn Center and is free-of-charge, but registration is required. For more information, call 626-570-5056, during weekday business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

FEBRUARY 2012 SENIOR OUTINGS

  • Wednesday, February 1 - "Happy Birthday" Luncheon Celebration - 11 a.m. Those celebrating birthdays will be honored with much attention, many greetings and a token gift! Registration is required at least two days in advance by calling 626-458-4455, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
     
  • Monday, February 6 - "Valentine's Day" Craft - 9 a.m. Participants will create special Valentine's Day crafts for significant others. Registration was required by January 25th, but call 626-570-5056 to determine if space is available.
     
  • Tuesday, February 7 - Registration for March Senior Outings – includes  Hollywood Bowl Tour & Universal City Walk Outing (March 9) and Downtown Ventura Outing (March 23)
     
  • Thursday, February 9 - Senior Outing to Downtown Riverside - 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Called, the city of Arts and Innovation, Riverside is rife with restaurants (where you can have lunch on your own), antique shops and specialty stores. And a visit to the historic Mission Inn is always a thrill as you experience the beautiful architecture styled like a California Mission. Fee: $12.
     
  • Friday, February 10 - "Edison's Energy Assistance Program" Seminar - 11 a.m. Presented by Southern California Edison. To register or for more information,

  • Tuesday, February 14 - "Valentine's Day" Special Luncheon - 11 a.m. Bring your sweetheart and satisfy your sweet tooth at this heartfelt celebration. The luncheon will be capped off with a selection of pies - all ala mode - and special guests and entertainment that will, according to Joslyn representatives, "send your heart aflutter."   • Thursday, February 16 - "Avoiding Common Trust Mistakes" Seminar - 10 a.m. Presented by Elder Law Attorney Carlos A. Arcos, this seminar is part of the
    "Managing Elder Care Trusts & Medical" series. To register or for more information,

  • Friday, February 24 - Senior Outing to the Cabazon Outlets & Morongo Casino - 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Shopping and gambling – what a day! The Cabazon Outlets have every store you could imagine and you'll enjoy browing with those who make up the 15 million shoppers who visit Cabazon each year. Then tram to the Morongo Casino, where you can try your luck, maybe to recoup what you spent at the outlets! Lunch is on your own. Fee: $12.
      
  • Tuesday, February 28 - "Making the Most of your Doctor Visits" Seminar - 10 a.m. Presented by SCAN.  To register or for more information, call 626-570-5056, during weekday business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Friday, March 9 - Hollywood Bowl Museum Tour & Universal City Walk - 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Fee: $12.
     
  • Friday, March 23 - Downtown Ventura - 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Fee: $12.

APRIL 2012 SENIOR ACTIVITIES

  • Tuesday, April 3 - Registration for May Senior Outings – Includes Gardens of the World & the Lakes (May 17) and Shoreline Village (May 25)
     
  • Thursday, April 12 - Ojai Senior Outing - 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Fee: $12.
     
  • Friday, April 27 - San Manuel Casino Senior Outing - 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Fee: $12.

MAY 2012 SENIOR ACTIVITIES

  • Thursday, May 17 - Gardens of the World & the Lakes Senior Outing - 9 a.m.-4 p.m. $12.
      
  • Friday, May 25 - Shoreline Village Senior Outing - 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Fee: $12.

JUNE 2012 SENIOR ACTIVITIES

  •  Wednesday, June 13 - Santa Monica on Farmer's Market Day Senior Outing - 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Fee: $12
     
  • Friday, June 22 - Huntington Beach Senior Outing - 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Fee: $12.

Seminars: Registration is required for all listed educational health seminars and clinics. Seminars and clinics are conducted free of charge unless stated otherwise and are held at the Joslyn Center. For more information, call 626-570-5056, during weekday business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
