It is important to respect--and keep your distance from the birds and other creatures that live at Almansor Park.

Almansor Park is for the Birds -- And People, Too!

Almansor Park was designed, and is efficiently maintained, for people who enjoy the out-of-doors and want to live life to the fullest -- through way of picnics, walking/jogging, playing sports (baseball, basketball, soccer and tennis), sunning, and simply taking pleasure in the antics of our Alhambra wildlife: fish, turtles and waterfowl.

Fish and turtles should be relatively safe from human predators--but are they? Even though it may seem inviting, the Park requests that people stay out of the lake, and NO fishing! In addition to fish and turtles, ducks, geese and sometimes other occasional rare species visit our premiere park. Together, they must share park space with us "human animals."

Because the water fowl have "adopted" our park for their home--a safe haven (they think) in the midst of the city's busiest park and the area's urban environment--it is important for all human visitors to maintain respect for these fellow critters: do not chase or otherwise disturb them as they waddle through the park, do not invade their nests, and please do not capture them for your home use -- they are NOT pets!

Let's continue to share our park with these colorful, interesting species, and remember that they will live longer and healthier lives, and continue to provide us with pleasure if we keep our distance from them. Let's treat them as guests in our home -- with respect.
