Strawberry Festival
8 a.m.-8 p.m.
 
Celebrate all things strawberry, but also enjoy day-long entertainment at this 30th celebration of our favorite fruit.
Fee: $15 (for ages 5 to 12 years); $20 (for ages 13+). Fee
includes transportation and entrance to the festival (lunch,
including strawberries, is on your own).
 
2) Saturday, July 20, 2013
Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach
12 p.m.-12:30 a.m. (Fee: $55, all ages welcome)
 
Families will explore the arts in Laguna Beach, and, in the evening experience a "once-in-a-lifetime" experience, the Pageant of the Masters, a world-renowned performance in which real people pose to recreate artistic masterpieces.

Danish Days in Solvang, 8 a.m.-8 p.m. (Fee: $15 - all ages)

A parade, live music, arts & crafts, demonstrations, "Kid's Korner," games and delicious Danish food are all part of the 77th annual Danish Days Celebration.
 
4) Saturday, October 5, 2013
Apple Days in Julian, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. (Fee: $15 - all ages)
 
Apple pie rules in Julian this weekend, as the annual Apple Days Festival entertains the entire family with children's games and activities, gold panning, music and dancing, an antique tractor display, beer and wine garden, and food and merchandise vendors.

5) Saturday, December 7Ellwood Butterfly Preserve -
9 a.m.-7 p.m., Fee: $15 – all ages welcome! 
 
Explore this grove of blue gum eucalyptus trees where thousands
of monarch butterflies return each year to mate.  Little children
are thrilled with the experience of a butterfly landing right on them. 
Also explore the Ellwood bluffs, stroll the sandy beach, and, before
the butterfly experience shop and have lunch (on your own) in Downtown Ventura.

 
BASKETBALL LEAGUE FOR ADULTS

 

ADULT BASKETBALL LEAGUE
Register now - League Play starts Tuesday, May 7, 2013
 
Registration will be taken on a first come, first-served basis.
Fees ($460 per team) must be paid at the time of registration.
Fees can be paid by company check, money order, Visa or MasterCard, personal check or cash. The no height limit "C"
league games will be played on Tuesdays and the 6'2" under
height limit league games will be played on Saturdays - both at
the Almansor Park Gymnasium, 800 S. Almansor St. Individual awards will be presented for 1st and 2nd place finishers in each league. For additional information, call 626-570-5081.

 
CHILDRENS SUPERSTARS CLUB

PROGRAM: MONDAY, JUNE 3 - FRIDAY, JULY 26, 2013
(REGISTRATION: BEGINS MONDAY, MAY 6, 2013)

PROGRAM TIME: 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Mon/Wed/Fri)
LOCATION: Almansor Park or Granada Park

The SUPERSTARS CLUB is the ultimate 8-week program for children, ages 5 to 7, to learn the rules and skills of popular sports -kickball, field hockey, flag football, baseball, dodge ball, soccer, badminton and basketball - with one sport featured during each
week of instruction. Participants will also learn aspects of participation, teamwork and sportsmanship. The $30 fee includes
a free Superstars T-shirt. Registration can be completed in person, at the Almansor Park Recreation Office, or by phone, during weekday business hours (8 a.m.-5 p.m.) at 626-570-5081.

 
SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM: "FOOD AND FUN FOR KIDS"

USDA SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM
DATES OF OPERATION: JUNE 3 - AUGUST 9, 2013

The City Summer Food Service program (which includes
free lunches and snacks along with recreation and arts &
crafts activities), for children ages one to 18, will be provided at
Alhambra Park, Almansor Park, Granada Park and Story Park, Monday though Friday. Lunches/snacks are provided on a
first-served basis and must be consumed on the park site in the designated area. Food will be served to all regardless of
race, color, national origin, sex or handicap (any person who believes he or she has experienced discrimination in any
USDA-related program should write to:
Secretary of Agriculture, Washington, DC. 20250.

    - Saturdays, 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
    - Sundays, 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.
     
  • Junior Golf Instruction
    Junior golf instruction is offered to youth 7 to 17 years of age
    for a total of 4 sessions per four-week period (student ratio 6:1).  
    Two class sessions are available:
    - Wednesday at 3:30-4:30 p.m.
    - Saturday, 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.

After-school youth recreation programs are held at nine school
sites. Activities include team & individual sports and alternative programs including arts & crafts, table game tournaments, four square, kickball and new games.

Registration is required for all Family Excursions. Space is limited and is based on a first-come,
first-serve basis. A parent or guardian must accompany children under the age of 18.
Refund and
Cancellation Policy - tickets are non-refundable. If your schedule changes, you may find a
replacement on your own, or if a waiting list has been established, staff will furnish you with a
possible replacement from the list. Family Excursions are subject to cancellation or schedule
change if trip minimums are not met. If the City of Alhambra cancels a trip, participants will
receive a full refund.
If you have a physical disability and require special assistance, please
notify staff at the time of registration. All excursions include round-trip, deluxe motorcoach
transportation. All trips depart from/return to the Alhambra City Yard, 900 S. New Ave., Alhambra.
