HOUSING RESOURCES FOR PERSONS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

The City of Alhambra assists individuals with special needs, such as the elderly,
frail elderly, homeless, mentally-ill and individuals with the AIDS/HIV virus,
primarily through referrals to other private and non-profit agencies.

Facilities

Alhambra has several public housing facilities for low-income seniors, as well a number of private assisted living and nursing care facilities. Click here for a list of facilities.

Rights
Center

The Housing Rights Center, contracted through the City of Alhambra is a non-profit organization that provides Alhambra residents with information and resources about fair housing as it pertains to tenants and landlords.

Section 8
Program
Assistance

The Community Development Commission (CDC)/Housing Authority of the County of Los Angeles provides housing subsidy to eligible low-income families residing in the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County and 62 participating cities through Public Housing and the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program. Homeless
Resources

The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority provides shelter, housing and services to homeless persons in Los Angeles City and County. For more information, click here.
 
The Salvation Army provides relief to families by providing for basic needs such as food, shelter and utilities, as well as additional supportive services such as counseling and spiritual care.  For more information, click here.
 
The Union Station Foundation provides shelter, meals, supportive housing and support services to homeless and poor adults and families in Greater Pasadena and western San Gabriel Valley. For more information, click here.

Hardship
Services 

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services provides the following benefits/services to low-income residents of Los Angeles County:
(1) Temporary financial assistance and employment services for families and individuals; (2) Free and low-cost health care insurance for families with children, pregnant women and aged/blind/disabled adults; (3) Food benefits for families and individuals; (4) In-home services for elderly and disabled individuals; and (5) Financial assistance and advocacy for federal disability benefits for disabled individuals.
