Housing Assistance
Financial assistance is available to qualified first-time homebuyers and property owners through various City/Agency (ARA) programs.

The City of Alhambra strives to meet the housing needs of all of its residents. Using primarily Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME funds, it offers assistance in a variety of areas:

  • First-Time Homebuyer Loan Assistance
    The City of Alhambra offers resources to help
    qualified homebuyers purchase their first
    home! Get up to $75,000 in down-payment
    assistance plus $15,000 for home repairs.

  • Other Services
    SENIOR HOUSING -- The City of Alhambra encourages development of affordable rental housing, especially for low-income senior citizens.  Click here to view a listing of senior public housing sites, as well as assisted living and nursing care facilities located in Alhambra.     HOUSING RIGHTS CENTER -- The City of Alhambra contracts with the Housing Rights Center, a non-profit organization, to ensue that Alhambra residents are afforded fair housing opportunities.
     
    ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS -- The Southern California Gas Company provides a Direct Assistance Program (DAP) to income-qualified individuals and families for no-cost weatherization and furnace repair or replacement services. For more information, click here.
      
    REFERRALS -- The City of Alhambra can provide referrals and assistance regarding homeless shelters, transitional housing options and other support services. Click here to learn more.
      
  • Housing and Community Development Citizen Advisory (HCDA) Committee
    This Committee, composed of 10 Alhambra residents, reviews housing concerns on a monthly basis. HCDA meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month at City Hall beginning at 7:00 p.m.  Tuesday, April 1, 2007 [Agenda]

Note: The Alhambra Planning Commission is required to review all new housing projects and requests for public funding must be approved by the City Council.
