New Retail Development Underway at 2121 West Main Street

Views of the Forthcoming "Panattoni" Commercial Development at 2121 West Main Street
...Featuring Circuit City and a Fresh & Easy Market

Elevation and  site views of the property

The Panattoni Development Company is currently constructing a 41,486 square foot commercial center at 2121 West Main Street. As owner/manager of the property, it has signed lease agreements with Circuit City and Tesco for a Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market along with other retailers. The new Main Street retail center is bounded by Palm and Raymond Avenues and Main and Vine Streets.

Circuit City, an established and well-known national electronics retailer, will serve as the main anchor of the project.  Fresh & Easy, owned by the large British grocery company Tesco, has just begun to expand into the United States (southern California, Arizona and Nevada).  There are currently six Fresh & Easy stores open in southern California (the closest store is located in Arcadia), with many more in the planning stages.

The retail center is to be built on approximately 3.22 acres, comprised of four one-story buildings with a total of five to seven commercial tenants. The largest space has been specifically designed for use as a Circuit City electronics store, while the next largest unit will be a Fresh & Easy grocery store. The construction will be of a contemporary nature with a cement plaster finish, built-up roofing with a cornice detail, fabric storefront awnings and decorative tile accents.  The color scheme will be a variety of earth tones for the buildings and tile and dark green, terra cotta and black for the awnings. Grand opening of the new site is slated to take place in September 2008.

The proposed tenants and building lease space sizes are as follows:

Building A - 20,152 square feet
 - Circuit City (electronics)

 Building B - 3,000 square feet
 - Retail space 1,400 square feet
 - Coffee store 1,600 square feet
 - Outdoor patio area for coffee store 1,350 square feet

 Building C - 14,434 square feet
 - Fresh & Easy (grocery store)

 Building D - 4,200 square feet
 Café and/or bank/retail

To be demolished - a vacated automobile
dealership/service facility and
a body shop at the rear of the site

It is estimated that the new $20 million commercial center will create approximately 100 jobs with potential gross sales of $27,500,000. This will provide the City with potentially $275,000 in sales tax and $200,000 in property tax revenue annually that will be used to help provide beneficial city services.
