TO MAIN STREET SINCE THE BEGINNING OF 2009...

38˚ Ale House & Grill - 100 West Main Street 
Following the success of Charlie's Trio Café, located at 47 West Main Street, Charlie's owners have opened a unique new brewery-style restaurant, called 38˚ Ale House & Grill. It features composed entrees, such as Roasted Prime Rib, Newcastle Braised Short Ribs, Baked Macaroni and Cheese, Ale House Meatloaf, plus a salads, burgers, sandwiches, Angus beef in many forms, seafood, and, of course, beer...at least 38 kinds, plus a full bar. Alondra Hot Wings Restaurant & Grill - 515 West Main Street
Alhambra is the newest destination for this growing restaurant chain, which goes by the slogan, "Best Wings in Town."  Posters of 20s era gangsters provide the backdrop for their menu, featuring a wide range of "Off the Grill" menu items (burgers, cheese steaks, etc.), deli sandwiches, finger foods, hot wings, salads & soups, pizza and desserts. Customer favorites are said to include the

1. Mahan Indian Restaurant - 110 West Main Street
Alhambra may be the "Gateway to the San Gabriel Valley," but Mahan Indian Restaurant is the "Gateway to Healthy, Exotic Food of the East," as affirmed by the recent move to their new Main Street location. The restaurant offers tandoori and lamb curry dishes, seafood and vegetarian plates, basmati rice platters, Indian bread, as well as traditional Indian sweets and desserts, and much more. Alhambra is the newest destination on the Loving Hut list of worldwide locations. The fast food chain offers a plant-based menu including a wide range of vegan appetizers, salads, soups, entrees, desserts and beverages. Enjoy Fried Tofu, Golden Rolls, Spring Rolls, Organic Green Salad, and Wonton Noodle Soup. Another restaurant that recently opened on Main Street is the popular Chipotle Mexican Grill, which is sprouting up across the nation. Their slogan, "Food with Integrity," is based on a philosophy of creating food that is "unprocessed, seasonal, family-farmed, sustainable, nutritious, naturally-raised, added hormone free, organic and artisanal." The economy has been especially rough on the auto industry with many dealerships being forced to close down across the nation. However, the City of Alhambra is pleased to announce the close of escrow on the property at 1811 and 1831 West Main Street in the Auto Row District, purchased by the owners of Volkswagen Pasadena. CITY OF ALHAMBRA SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH DEVELOPER
FOR NEW MIXED-USE PROJECT AT THIRD & MAIN STREETS

The City of Alhambra has signed a Disposition and Development Agreement by and between the Alhambra Redevelopment Agency (ARA) and Zen Development Company, LLC, which will lead to the construction of a four-story mixed-use development at the northeast corner of Main and Third Streets. The proposed project is included in the West Main Street Master Plan that was approved by the City Council in 2006. It has been estimated that construction of the project will begin in October 2010 with completion in June 2012. MORE...

 

 CITY OF ALHAMBRA WELCOMES THE SIGNING OF TWO NEW
BUSINESS LEASES AT THE ALHAMBRA ON FREMONT AVENUE

Newport Dessert Company - 1000 S. Fremont Avenue
Dessert lovers will be thrilled at this news! The Newport Dessert Company (website) has signed a lease for a 19,000 sq. ft. space in The Alhambra's one-million sq. ft. urban community. The Company sells popular Sour Cream Apple Cobbler Bars and other decadent desserts to high-end restaurant chains such as PF Chang’s China Bistro and directly to consumers via QVC. The business will also lease the 4,000 sq. ft. Café at The Alhambra, where it will provide a diverse and affordable menu for breakfast and lunch.

DeVry University-Alhambra Campus - 1000 S. Fremont Avenue
DeVry University (Alhambra campus webpage), which offers associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree programs in technology, business and management, has signed a seven-year agreement to lease 16,000 square feet at The Alhambra Campus. The University offers spacious classrooms, a computer lab with online access, a lounge, vending area and ample parking. DeVry joins several other schools and colleges at The Alhambra, including USC Keck School of Medicine, Alliant International University, Platt College, Everest College and Pinnacle College.
