Just weeks after the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation presented the City of Alhambra with the 2010 Eddy Award for "Most Business-Friendly City in Los Angeles County" with a population over 60,000, the City announced it was working to create $385 million in new investment in our community. With many of these projects now underway, hundreds of new construction jobs are being created and many permanent jobs will be available once the projects are completed. Four-story mixed-use project is under construction and will include approximately 8,200 square feet of retail space with pedestrian-friendly promenade areas and 52 condominiums, 9 live/work units, 19 town homes, and 6 shopkeeper units. Anticipated Market Value at Completion: $30 million; Anticipated Completion: 2013; Projected Permanent Jobs: 30 on site.

 SCE DATA CENTER

Southern California Edison's single-story 62,000 square foot data center is under construction. The facility will include a 23,000 square foot exterior mechanical yard. When completed, the facility will contribute about 30 full-time employees to the City’s employment base. The facility will occupy the entire block bounded by Lemon Street on the north, Marengo Avenue on the east, Mission Road on the South, and Raymond Avenue on the West. The new facility, which will replace the company’s existing data center at its Rosemead campus, will house critical operations responsible for processing SCE’s daily functions, including the management and delivery of electrical power to its customers, as well as include a mechanical yard for all necessary equipment for emergency backup power generation.

Four-story mixed-use development comprised of 94 residential condominiums and 5,000 square feet of commercial space with space for two possible restaurants. Anticipated Market Value at Completion: $30 million; Anticipated Start of Construction: 2012; Projected Completion: 2012; Projected Permanent Jobs: 25 on site.

 ALHAMBRA PACIFIC PLAZA

Alhambra Pacific Plaza LLC has submitted development plans for property they own at the southwest corner of Third & Main (currently Super A Foods). This privately-funded mixed-use development is estimated to be valued at $40 million. Their project calls for 15,000 square feet of commercial space which may include a small boutique-style grocery (identity yet to be determined); 118 residential for-sale units and 3,000 square feet designated for a restaurant use. Construction is expected to begin in the late summer of 2012. Project review by Planning Commission & Design Review Board are still required.

A proposed plan for 194 one- and two-bedroom independent living apartments, 15 assisted living apartments, 15 memory care suites, underground parking, town center with various dining options, fitness center, spa, indoor swimming pool, and more. Anticipated Market Value at Completion: $50 million.
