Council Recognition/Awards Presentations & Other Special Occasions

  • The Alhambra Day Nursery was recognized and thanked for its contribution of $25,000 to the Alhambra Library Foundation, thereby providing it with an opportunity to name the Children's Storytime Room at the Civic Center Library. [photo] 10/12/09
     
  • Dr. Leland Hamby was commended for his dedication to the community through four years of service on the Board of the Alhambra Library Foundation, during which time he has helped to secure funds for the acquisition of new books, computers and a phone system for the Civic Center Library.   • Drs. Tim and Annie Siu were commended for their dedication to the community through eight years of service on the Board of the Alhambra Library Foundation, which through their fundraising efforts has led to the acquisition of new books, computers, and a phone system for the Civic Center Library.  [photo] 10/12/09

    Five Alhambra baseball/softball leagues were recognized for becoming champions in their respective leagues.

  • Veteran's Memorial Dedication - The Alhambra Veterans' Memorial at Alhambra Park was dedicated on June 6, 2009 in a public ceremony which included a Presentation of Colors by the Garfield High School JROTC and Welcome Address by Capt. Nat B. Read USNR-R (Ret.). Additional presentations were given by U.S. Congressman Adam Schiff (29th Dist.), Alhambra Mayor Steven Placido, DDS, and Alhambra Legion Post No. 139.
