The Department of Community Services offers a wide variety of programs and activities for adults age 60 and over, including recreation, social services, nutrition, and transportation. It acts as a central access point for information and services to assist senior citizens and their family members.

Case Management Project: The City of Alhambra Case Management Project stands ready to provide free assistance to Alhambra seniors 60 and older and functionally impaired adults 18 and older, as a means to live independently and safely in their homes for as long as possible. The program, co-funded by the Los Angeles County Area Agency on Aging, provides information in English, Mandarin and Spanish. Case Management caseworkers can assist in providing contacts concerning Medicare, Medi-Cal and Social Security. They also serve as advocates for medical and mental health referrals, in-home service referrals, transportation, nutritional referrals, counseling and much, much more. In-Home Registry: This program provides assistance to seniors who may need help them with house cleaning, minor home repairs, personal care, shopping and companion care. Finding the right person to provide domestic assistance can be an onerous task. However, the In-Home Registry program can simplify the process by connecting seniors with qualified, prescreened workers. Pay is negotiated between the senior and the worker. The senior is responsible for paying the worker. For more information, call (626) 570-3220, weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
