The Alhambra Civic Center Library Literacy Program Center (also known as A.L.L.)
The Alhambra Civic Center Library provides 1,100 square feet of space towards the Alhambra Library Literacy (A.L.L.) program, which is both unmatched and unrivaled by any other facility in our area! In addition to a growing collection of materials that help individuals with literacy skills, the Center provides two private literacy tutoring rooms for one-on-one instruction that insures privacy for the learner and the learning partner, and a computer learning lab, filled with programs that are geared for teaching essential life skills to those with developing literacy abilities.
The A.L.L. program provides...
- Trained volunteers provide literacy tutoring of adult learners;
- Family literacy programs, including the Early Learning with Families program,
help parents develop family reading skills and habits;
- After-school Homework Help program assists hundreds of elementary school
students with their homework and special projects;
- Special workshops (many co-sponsored by KCET) instruct parents, teachers,
and child-care providers in the skills that help children’s literacy develop
and bloom;
- Many other programs are also designed to enhance the literacy skills of
adults and children.
