Art may be in the eye of the beholder, but graffiti on public & private property is not art. It's an encroachment on the right to a clean, unblemished environment.

  24-Hour Graffiti Hotline

If You See Graffiti Anywhere in Alhambra,
Call this Number - 24 Hours per Day!

(626) 570-5072

Strategies for Winning the War against Graffiti!

  • Report IMMEDIATELY to the Hotline Number — When you see graffiti, on public or private property that is visible from the street, call the Graffiti Hotline phone number indicated above as quickly as possible. Identify the location of the graffiti and be as specific as possible.
  • Documentation — The Alhambra Police Department documents and photographs all reported graffiti, which has led to the prosecution of several of the City's most prolific taggers.
  • 24-48 Hour Response — Public Works crews will restore the wall (or fence, etc.*) usually the same or next day. Crews work seven days per week, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Vigilance — eventually the tagger will give up or go somewhere else after realizing his/her work is not permanent.
  • Continuous Monitoring — frequent inspection of targeted or highly vulnerable locations and structures.
  • Color-Matching — return the paint color to that of the existing surface as soon as possible.
* Note: Crews may not be able to restore many of today's garage doors due to the type of material used.
