SCHEDULED ART EXHIBITIONS
March 1-31, 2013
Gerry Bonilla - "Pastels are Ephemeral"
www.pastelinvasion.com
  April 1-30, 2013
Paint + Paper = Pizaz3"
Jeanne Windoffer, Lauri Mangiagli &
Linda Fullmer

"Meet the Artist" Reception:
March 11, 2013,
5:30 p.m.-8 p.m.

Artist Gerry Bonilla sees pastels as a
metaphor for life: "It comes and goes."
This applies mainly when creating beautiful pastel pieces on the ground and then the art
is washed away, one or two days later –
like the saying, "from dust to dust."

Bonilla loves art and most importantly
pastels. In this Solo Exhibit, he shows off
the power and vibrancy that pastels offer.
Bonilla breaks the stereotype mold (i.e.,
it must be an oil or acrylic to be viewed
as a painting or the term ‘pastel’ used
derisively as a weak or bland medium
or color). Bonilla's pastels are fun and
easily accessible and a means of bringing pastels to the mainstream consciousness.

Bonilla says he enjoys mixing pastel brands
in one painting by blending and layering
with his fingers for shadow and lighting,
and using pastel pencils for additional
details. (although he says he doesn't
use pastel pencils at street festivals
because the tip/led would get destroyed.)

"Meet the Artist" Reception:
April 8, 2013, 6
p.m.-8 p.m.

Jeanne Windoffer enjoys painting landscapes and seascapes, many of whivch she first sketches "plein air" in ink and watercolor. Several of her paintings and sketches were displayed last summer at the "In the Garden" event at the Mary and Joseph Retreat
Center in Palos Verdes. Windoffer is a
member of the Mid-Valley Arts League,
Verdugo Hills Art Association, and a juried member of Watercolor West.

Laurie Mangiagli loves the watercolor
medium because of its "uncontrollable
nature." Inspired by the shapes and
colors contained within photographs, she enjoys interpreting candids of people and
her mom's award-winning digital
photographs. Her work is displayed in homes in California, Nevada, Texas and Hawaii, and she is a member of the Mid-Valley Arts League. Visit her website to see some of
her paintings online.

Linda Fullmer is a juried member of
Watercolor West, who has been exhibiting annually at Alhambra City Hall since 2005.
She is an award-winning member of the
Mid-Valley Arts League and maintains membership in the Valley Watercolor
Society. Visit her website to view some of
her paintings online.
