How you can purchase a METRO Bus/Rail Token or Replenishable TAP Card:

  • Bus/Rail Tokens: The City of Alhambra Finance Department sells Metro bus and rail
tokens at its main customer service counter. Each bag contains ten tokens at a cost of
    $15.
  • Replenishable TAP Card: Regular, senior, disabled and student Metro rail and bus
users can board the Metro system using a TAP Fare Card. All reduced fare users are
required to have a TAP card with photo ID to receive the discount. This durable plastic
card can be used again and again to load a reduced fare monthly pass.

The TAP card can be loaded at the City Hall Finance Department; however, Metro is providing other convenient options. These include the ability to reload your TAP card at Metro Customer Centers, other pass vendor locations, and at any Metro Rail or Metro Orange Line ticket vending machine. Best of all – you can add to your TAP card any
time of the day or night by calling 866-TAPTOGO, or simply reloading online at www.taptogo.net

The City of Alhambra has application forms for all types of subsidized TAP fare users, but the easiest way is to download a form. Pay attention to the various types of
subsidized cards available such as the Senior TAP ID Card, LACTOA Disabled TAP
ID Card, College/Vocational TAP ID Card, and Student TAP Card (K-8 and 9-12).

There is no charge for the TAP Card, but you will need to supply a full-face photo
(1” x 1-1/4” or 2” x 2”) with your application. A photocopy of your California identification card, driver’s license or passport is also required. Disabled users will need to provide
valid documentation of disability status, and students will have to show proof of
student enrollment. These materials can be submitted in person to any Metro
Customer Center or mailed to the address provided on each application form.
