GENERAL PARKING RESTRICTIONS IN THE CITY OF ALHAMBRA
Parking is restricted on ALL public streets in the City of Alhambra between 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., seven days per week without a valid parking permit or valid Disabled Placard.
(Alhambra Municipal Code: Title XI: Vehicles & Traffic, 11.36, All-Night Parking).

No overnight parking is permitted from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m. on any of the following streets:

  • Main Street
  • Atlantic Boulevard
  • Fremont Avenue
  • Garfield Avenue
  • Huntington Drive
  • Mission Road

Street Sweeping Time Zones are strictly enforced to ensure that all streets are properly swept. Parking is prohibited during the times that are posted on the signs. Street sweeping hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Street sweeping is conducted from 12:30 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, primarily in commercial, industrial and major arterials throughout the City of Alhambra. If you have any questions, please contact the Alhambra Police Dept. Traffic Bureau at (626) 570-5120.

TEMPORARY OVERNIGHT PARKING PERMITS

Permits for temporary parking can be purchased ONLINE OR in the lobby of the Police Department through a 24-hour per day self-service machine. The cost per night for a temporary overnight parking permit is $3. At any one time, up to ten nights may be purchased from the dispenser, using either coins or bills up to $20 in value. Change will be given in dollar coins.  To validate the Temporary Overnight Parking Permit, use an ink pen in the space provided to clearly mark the complete license plate number, or if there is no license plate use the last four numbers of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Failure to do so may result in a citation. The Temporary Parking Permit must be clearly displayed on the dashboard, face-up on the driver's side. No overnight parking permits are issued to vehicles exceeding 6,000 lbs., non-motorized vehicles, trailers and vehicles exceeding 8-feet height, 6-feet width or 20-feet length.(View this information in Spanish/Chinese.)

ANNUAL OVERNIGHT PARKING PERMITS

Annual Overnight Parking Permits are available through the Finance Department for $60 per year. Each permit issued is per one vehicle and registered owner of said vehicle. Permits may be purchased at City Hall in the Finance Department during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) The applicant must provide current Vehicle Registration and proof of Alhambra residency. CLICK HERE for an online Annual Overnight Parking Permit Application. After completing it, return the application to the Finance Department. Approvals are granted only after the Alhambra Police Department determines there is not adequate off-street parking for the vehicle.

No overnight parking permits are issued to vehicles exceeding 6,000 lbs., non-motorized vehicles, trailers and vehicles exceeding 8-feet height, 6-feet width or 20-feet length. If you change or sell your vehicle, remove the existing permit sticker from car windshield and submit with a transfer fee of $20.00. If the sticker is not presented at this time, you will be required to submit a new application with new permit fees. If you change your address within the Alhambra city limits, a new proof of residency permit must be submitted along with a $20 administrative fee.

PROPER DISPLAY OF PERMITS

Overnight Parking Permits must be affixed to the vehicle with its own adhesive (do not affix permit with tape or any other materials). The permit must be clearly placed on the front lower left (drivers' side) corner of the windshield. If not placed correctly, the permit will be considered INVALID.

DISABLED PLACARDS

Vehicles displaying a current Disabled Placard are exempt from overnight parking restrictions

RECREATIONAL AND COMMERCIAL VEHICLE RESTRICTIONS

The Alhambra Municipal Code prohibits overnight parking of commercial vehicles in industrial areas of the city. These vehicles are targets for graffiti and other types of vandalism, thereby making street sweeping impossible and creating blight in the industrial areas. It is against the law to live in a recreational vehicle on a public street in Alhambra.  Recreational vehicles are prohibited from parking overnight without a valid 72 hour permit that must be obtained from the Alhambra Police Department Traffic Section.  This permit will only be issued for the purpose of loading or unloading a recreational vehicle either before or after a trip.
