Parking Permits & City Parking Restrictions

For all parking related matters and questions (i.e., enforcement issues,
reporting street sweeping violations and abandoned vehicles on city streets, etc.),
please call the Alhambra Police Department at (626) 570-5120 or 570-5151.

AVOID A PARKING CITATION!
The Alhambra Police Department enforces
Street Sweeping Time Zones.

As a reminder, and to ensure that all streets are properly swept, the Alhambra Police Department strictly enforces Street Sweeping Time Zones. Parking is prohibited during the times that are posted on the signs. Street sweeping hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Street sweeping is conducted from 12:30 a.m. to 6:00 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, primarily in commercial, industrial and major arterials throughout the City of Alhambra. If you have any questions, please contact the Alhambra Police Dept. Traffic Bureau at (626) 570-5120.

The City of Alhambra restricts parking on public streets between the hours of 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., seven days per week on all streets without a valid parking permit or valid Disable Placard per the Alhambra Municipal Code: Title XI: Vehicles & Traffic, 11.36 (All-Night Parking).

No overnight parking is permitted
on any of the following streets
between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m.:

  • Main Street
  • Atlantic Boulevard
  • Fremont Avenue
  • Garfield Avenue
  • Huntington Drive
  • Mission Road
  • Valley Boulevard

No overnight parking permit will be
issued to following:

  • Vehicles exceeding 6,000 lbs.
  • Non-motorized vehicles
  • Trailers
  • Vehicles exceeding 8 feet in
height, 6 feet in width or
          20 feet in length

  • The City of Alhambra has adopted an ordinance
placing restrictions on parking RVs and
    commercial vehicles on city streets.
    See below for more information.

     ANNUAL OVERNIGHT PARKING PERMITS
The Finance Department issues Annual Overnight Parking Permits for $60 per year. Each permit issued is per one vehicle and registered owner of said vehicle. Permits may be purchased at City Hall in the Finance Department during normal business hours (Mon.-Thurs., 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.) The applicant must provide current Vehicle Registration and proof of Alhambra residency.

CLICK HERE for an online Overnight Parking Permit Application. After completing it, return the application to the Finance Department for approval. Approvals are only granted after the Alhambra Police Department determines that there is not adequate off-street  parking for the vehicle.

TEMPORARY OVERNIGHT PARKING PERMITS (Spanish / Chinese)
Permits for temporary parking can be purchased in the lobby of the Police Department through a 24-hour per day self-service machine at the rate of $3.00 per night.  (At any one time, up to ten nights may be purchased from the dispenser, using either coins or bills up to $20 in value. Change will be given in dollar coins.) The Parking Permits must be clearly displayed on the dashboard, face-up on the driver's side. Validation of the Temporary Overnight Parking Permit requires that you clearly (in ink) complete the information in the space provided for the License Plate Number on the last four (4) numbers of the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number).

      DISABLE PLACARDS
Vehicles displaying a current Disable Placard are exempt from overnight parking restrictions.

     PROPER DISPLAY OF PERMITS
Overnight Parking Permits must be affixed to the vehicle with its own adhesive (do not affix permit with tape or any other materials). The permit must be clearly placed on the front lower left (drivers' side) corner of the windshield. If not placed correctly, the permit will be considered INVALID.

     TRANSFERRED VEHICLES
Upon changing vehicles remove the existing permit sticker from car windshild and submit with a transfer fee of $20.00. If the sticker is not presented at this time, you will be required to submit a new application with new permit fees.

     CHANGE OF ADDRESS
When an applicant changes their address within the Alhambra city limits, a new proof of residency permit must be submitted along with a $20.00 Administrative fee.

PERMIT STICKERS LOST IN THE MAIL
To ensure receipt of Overnight Permit renewal stickers it is imperative applicants take responsibility for updating their contact information accordingly. Replacement stickers can not be issued. A new permit may be obtained with a $20.00 Administration fee.

     RECREATIONAL & COMMERCIAL VEHICLE RESTRICTIONS
The Alhambra Municipal Code prohibits overnight parking of commercial vehicles in industrial areas of the city. These vehicles are targets for graffiti and other types of vandalism, make street sweeping impossible, and create blight in the industrial areas. The Code also makes it against the law to live in a recreational vehicle on a public street in Alhambra.  Recreational vehicles are prohibited from parking overnight without a valid 72 hour permit that must be obtained from the Alhambra Police Department Traffic Section.  This permit will only be issued for the purpose of loading or unloading a recreational vehicle either before or after a trip.
