Graffiti isn't art--it's an encroachment on the public's right to a clean, unblemished environment. Call 570-5072 if you see it.

  24-Hour Graffiti Hotline

24-Hour Graffiti Hotline
Art may be in the eye of the beholder, but graffiti on public and private property is not art. It is an encroachment on the public's right to a clean, unblemished environment. When you see graffiti, on public or private property that is visible from the street, call the Graffiti Hotline at (626) 570-5072. Identify the location of the graffiti (be as specific as possible), and a Public Works crew will restore the wall (or fence or whatever*). Crews work seven days a week, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., so chances are good that the graffiti will be removed the same or next day.

* Note: Crews may not be able to restore many of today's garage doors due to the type of material used.

Please don't wait for
someone else to discover
or report graffiti.  If we all
work together to address
this blight, we'll be assured
of the continuance of our "Alhambra Beautiful."

"Graffiti Tracker" Tracker Program
Now in Use in Alhambra

The City of Alhambra has initiated a new graffiti-tracking system, which is being used successfully
in other cities throughout Los Angeles County--
and is now in operation in Alhambra!

The graffiti is photographed (with a special
camera), classified (gang or tagging), analyzed
(gang name, type of gang graffiti, monikers,
threats and types of threats), and input and
stored in a computerized system.

Information gained from the Graffiti "Tracker" program can then be extracted for use in
determining deployment of personnel to deal
with gang/graffiti vandalism problems, and as
court-approved evidence in the prosecution of
felony vandalism cases, in which cities can
recover increased restitution from convicted vandals. It is hoped that increased convictions
will help vandals read the "handwriting on the
wall," and take up more positive pastimes!
